Fibre Ethernet High Speed Internet Access
Using fibre Ethernet circuits for your Internet access provides a dedicated high speed, uncontended, full duplex symmetrical bandwidth solution that has lower overhead, greater throughput and higher reliability than all broadband (ADSL/SDSL) services. Ethernet is now the standard replacement for more traditional leased line technology.
Ethernet provides flexible and scalable bandwidth options from 10Mb right up to 10Gb and future 40-100GB Internet access. Ethernet circuits can also be used for Point to Point connections or to provide a private MPLS network with shared Internet access breakout.
Fibre Ethernet is simply the best, most scalable and reliable Internet and site to site connectivity option available in the UK today.
MPLS Networking Solution - Overview
MPLS allows customers to deploy a private managed data network linking multiple sites directly into Konnetix’s core network using a wide range of circuits, including:

MPLS Networking Solution - Overview
MPLS allows customers to deploy a private managed data network linking multiple sites directly into Konnetix’s core network using a wide range of circuits, including:
- Fibre Ethernet
- Copper Ethernet
- SDSL M
- VDSL (Fibre Broadband)
- ADSL2+ / ADSL Max
As the circuits connect into a central ‘cloud’ rather than to a specific site the network is more flexible & resilient than using site to site leased lines or VPNs which require expensive routers and configuration. Adding a new site into a network is as simple as just ordering a single circuit at the new address . Konnetix will then connect this into your MPLS network, allowing data to securely route between sites without you having to set up VPNs & firewalls.
What is MPLS?
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a “routing protocol” used in high performance networks. It labels each packet with a virtual “label” which is then used to move packets from one network node to another.
How does it work?
A label is assigned to each packet based on destination. MPLS is currently the fastest protocol available as the forwarding decision is based on the label and not the full IP address lookup.
Konnetix provide our customers with MPLS networks which provide very high security while reducing overall cost of ownership – standard circuit routers are used on site, meaning expensive routers and firewalls are not needed, and nor is any complicated on site customer configuration and management.
Hosted Firewall
An integrated Hosted Firewall service allows Konnetix to provide a centralised Internet connection, for all sites. The MPLS cloud allows all sites to link to each other in a full mesh, and when linked to the Hosted Firewall this provides external access to the Internet – having a single large connection to the Internet, through one firewall reduces the cost of Internet bandwidth, while improving reliability, speed and management control.
The Hosted Firewall service also includes a VPN Concentrator to allow secure VPN access from staff who aren’t connected to the MPLS network, so home or mobile workers can also access your network.
MPLS - Key Benefits
MPLS is a fully managed solution and offers some outstanding options and management facilities:

- Scalable & Flexible.
ADSL2+ Overview
ADSL2+ business broadband from Konnetix provides exceptionally fast bandwidth using the latest network technologies. ADSL 2+ is rate adaptive and so will provide the best possible speed that your telephone line will support up to a maximum downstream of 24Mb and upstream of 1Mb with the Premium service.
ADSL2+ broadband is a cost effective Internet circuit allowing you to download and send data effectively within a range of applications giving you both reliability and business grade performance.
ADSL2+ is best suited for normal business Internet usage – for companies looking to send large files, emails or network other offices or home workers then SDSL or Ethernet may be more beneficial.
ADSL2+ Where is it available?
ADSL2+ is now available at most exchanges around the UK, either where BT have upgraded the equipment for connection to the 21CN network or alternatively where one of Konnetix’s LLU partners has installed the necessary equipment in the exchange.

Assured Data Throughput – Perfect for Real Time Applications
For real time applications, where there is a minimum bandwidth requirement, ADSL 2+ may now be ordered with a minimum data throughput Service Level Agreement (SLA) of 500Kb, subject to location and distance from exchange. Please speak to one of our team about ADSL 2+ Premium Assured for more information on this unique product.
VDSL2, the next generation of broadband service, has now been fully launched by Konnetix providing speeds of up to 40Mb downstream and 10Mb upstream.
What is VDSL2?
VDSL2 from Konnetix is exceptionally fast business broadband. Using fibre from the local exchange to the BT cabinet in the street (FTTC), VDSL2 provides bandwidths of up to 40Mb downstream - five times faster than ADSL Max. Upload speeds of up to 10Mb are available on Premium and up to 2Mb on Standard circuits.
As fibre is used to the local cabinet this should also extend the ‘reach’ of VDSL2, meaning greater coverage for businesses currently restricted by distance limitations on ADSL.
Where is VDSL2 available?
VDSL2 is available where BT has enabled Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) at the customer’s required location. At present there are approximately 100 exchanges within the UK that have been enabled, with a further 100 due to come online over the next 12 months.
VDSL2, the next generation of broadband service, has now been fully launched by Konnetix providing speeds of up to 40Mb downstream and 10Mb upstream.
ADSL Annex M Summary
ADSL Annex M business broadband from Konnetix is designed for companies that require a higher upstream bandwidth compared to ADSL 2+. ADSL Annex M changes the profile of the circuit reducing the downstream slightly in order to provide up to double the upstream compared to ADSL 2+. ADSL Annex M is rate adaptive and so will provide the best possible speed that your telephone line will support up to a maximum downstream of 16Mb and upstream of 2.5Mb.
ADSL Annex M broadband is a cost effective Internet circuit allowing you to download and send data effectively within a range of applications giving you both reliability and business grade performance.
For companies needing to send time critical data, such as voice over IP, the Premium option provides a minimum data throughput of 1Mb as well as guarantees on latency, jitter and packet loss.
ADSL Annex M is best suited for higher volume business and time critical Internet usage. Where symmetrical or even higher bandwidth is required then Ethernet over copper or fibre may be more suitable – see our Ethernet information here.

ADSL Annex M is now available at most exchanges around the UK where one of Konnetix’s LLU partners has installed the necessary equipment in the exchange. BT are also currently trialling Annex M on their BT 21CN next generation network and on completion Konnetix will also offer Annex M using 21CN equipment.
